The potential of the original image lies in the camera angle combined with the expression on the girl's face.
The high angle places her in a subordinate position which is accentuated by her wide-eyed, innocent, expression. It's this quaint old supplicant pose which determined the treatment of this image

The flowers were added using the Ambient Brush in Auto FX's plugin PGE. The background tiles were also created using PGE- this time using the vignette templates.

More flowers were placed in the foreground in order to immerse the subject in the scene.

The foreground flowers were made slightly transparent so that some of the tile pattern would show through in preparation for the final treatment..

Using edge detection and texture effects then blending these layers with those beneath, I gave the image a drawn appearance with a pastel colour and tone. The semi transparent layers give the image a loose sketchiness and watercolour appearance by overlapping many of the edges particularly the foreground flowers in the bottom half of the image.
